The Eye Pathology Laboratory of the University of Wisconsin
offers state-of-the-art eye pathology services from internationally
recognized eye pathologists. The UW Eye Pathology Lab is
the only dedicated eye pathology lab in Wisconsin and one
of only a handful of dedicated eye laboratories in the nation.
Referring pathologists and ophthalmologists benefit from

The UW Eye Pathology Lab, established in 1925 by F.A. Davis,
MD, is CLIA (Clinical Lab Information Act of 1988) certified
and offers the expertise of Armed Force Institute of Pathology-trained
pathologists. Access to a full range of anatomical pathology
services combined with high quality expertise and service,
makes the UW Eye Pathology Lab a quality choice for practicing
ophthalmologists throughout the world.
Eye Pathology Services
Services provided by the UW Eye Pathology Lab include tissue
and slide preparation and evaluation involving immunohistochemistry
and electron-microscopy.
Residents and fellows are active participants in the preparation
and diagnosis of tissue which plays an important part in
their ophthalmology training.
Special Services
- Same day service is available at an additional
cost for emergency specimens, such as temporal artery biopsies,
received before 11 a.m., Monday through Friday.
- Photomicrograph and video transfer services
are available upon request at an additional
cost.
- Examination of animal tissue and large scale
processing for experimental studies is available at discounted
rates.
International Services of the Eye Path Lab
One interest of the UW Eye Pathology Lab is to promote investigation
and education, not only in the USA, but outside the country,
to all the ophtalmologic community. We are pleased to receive your ocular
specimens or prepared slides to provide our diagnosis and opinion*. We also
offer short basic courses in ophthalmic pathology, and one-year full fellowship
programs.** The UW Eye Pathology Lab recently was selected by the Pan American
Association of Ophthalmology to participate in a Training Course with the
Eye Pathology Lab. of the National Institute of Ophthalmology of Peru.

Fees
General eye pathology and consulting services are available
on a fee-for-service basis. Discounted rates for large
scale investigations are also available. Please call for
a current listing of fees.
