The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences offers six clinical fellowships and participates in the Ophthalmology Fellowship Matching Program (OFMP) sponsored by the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology (AUPO) through the Centralized Application Service.

International Medical Graduates:
To be eligible to apply for a clinical fellowship at the University of Wisconsin, International Medical Graduates must meet the following requirements:
- ECFMG Certificate (not required for Canadian applicants)
- Taken and passed the USMLE steps 1, 2 (CK) and (CS), and 3 Exams; LMCC for Canadian applicants
- Satisfactory completion of 1 year of post graduate training (PGY1) by an ACGME (MD's) or AOA (DO's) approved program or program approved by the appropriate accrediting body in Canada. The PGY1 year must in a specialty other than Ophthalmology and include training in which the resident has primary responsibility for patient care in fields such as internal medicine, neurology, pediatrics, surgery, family medicine, or emergency medicine. At minimum, six months of this year must be a broad experience in direct patient care.
- Satisfactory completion of 36 months (PGY2-4) of an ACGME approved Ophthalmology Residency Program or program accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (Required to be eligible for ABO Board Certification)
- Be able to obtain an unrestricted medical license from the State of Wisconsin
- H1B Visa
